An Eevee's Life

Chapter 33 ~ Captivity

          Dan sat there silently with Naomi by his side, listening to her steady breathing as she slept next to him. Everyone trapped with him was asleep as well, even Josie, who by this time had been given the small pill that Cherry gave to Andrew, and her emotions were more likely destroyed then put under control, and she just slept there with a blank expression on her face.
          He sat there, thinking to himself about how he and his family could escape this horrible nightmare. There seemed to be no way out, no matter where he looked throughout the cavern. Even when the rest of his family had given up, he was determined to figure out a way to get out.
          After a little while, however, Naomi began to jerk wildely in her sleep, and Dan suspected that she was having a bad dream. Throughout the whole ordeal, she had a smile on her face, and her leg movement now indicated to Dan that she was running. He thought it was adorable, however, and licked her forehead and let her sleep.
          Soon after, Naomi awoke from her dream and buried her face into Dan's neck, who just smiled and kissed her on the cheek. They stayed like this for awhile, but Dan finally nudged her with his paw and asked, "Hey, Naomi? I have a question. What were you dreaming about earlier?"
          "Oh, that.", she said, blushing a little bit but looking him in the eyes. "I was dreaming of the night when me and my brother were taken. We were playing outside of my house while my parents were inside the house, and we were chasing each other in the woods."
          "Wait, so that was the night you were taken?", Dan asked sympathetically.
          "Yeah..", she told him, suddenly losing her smile. "It was the night where we were knocked unconscious and brought here."
          "Is there any chance of you remembering exactly what 'here' looked like when you were taken?", Dan asked, curiously. "I feel like maybe there was something that you could've seen that will help us get out of here."
          At first, Naomi just looked at him with a sad expression and shook her head violently, but then thought about it for a little while and finally decided to give it a chance. "It's really hard for me to relive that night, Dan. It's the only good memory I have left of my brother, and it was ruined when Ryu took us away from our parents.."
          "Hey, don't worry about it.", he whispered to her, licking her cheek. "Please, all i ask is that you give it a try. If it becomes too much for you, we can just stop right away."
          "Well, alright, Dan..", she sighed as she closed her eyes and began to focus. Dan could immediately feel her body tense up, watched her eyes squint and her tail flit back and forth. suddenly she started speaking a mile a minute, and it became hard for Dan to keep up with her."
          "We were playing in the forest, my brother and I, and he was hiding from me because that was his favorite game. I was always able to find him, however, because the flames that eminated from his body always started something on fire on accident.", she started. "He had recently evolved into a Flareon, and because of that he couldn't really control all of his powers quite yet."
          "It was different during one of our games, however..", she continued. "I couldn't find him at all. I thought that maybe he had finally gotten his powers under control, but he was nowhere to be found. I screamed his name into the forest, telling him I had given up and that he had won, and suddenly I took a blow to my head and collpased onto the ground.."
          Her heartbeat was alot faster than it was previously, and her breathing started to become very rapid. Dan wanted to stop her for fear of her having some form of anxiety attack, but she just continued to talk without really noticing what was happening to her.
          "When I woke up, I wasn't in a cage like you guys were..", she mentioned. "I was able to stand up after a few minutes and noticed that I was standing in a dimely lit room with two doors. One was sealed shut and the other was ajar somewhat. Looking back, I should have tried to open the door that was shut.."
          "I walked through the opening of the door and followed a narrow hallway of sorts that led me to this holding area, where I found the cage with my brother in it. I ran up to it and tried to rip open the door, but the lock was unbreakable. Ryu would later come in and talk to me about what was going on and what he expected from us, but I began to wander around more."
          Her body temperature was rising dramatically, and Dan noticed beats of sweat dripping from her forehead. He started telling her lovingly to slow down and take a break from her story, but Naomi just shrugged it off and kept going.
          "There was another doorway that I went through that I later found out to be my living quarters. There were no windows and no other doors that I coul find.." She hesitated a moment, then her eyes flashed open and she looking him right in the eyes and said, "There was a letter of some sorts in my matress. It talked about how if there was a strong enough phychic power both inside and outside of Ryu's crazy head, together they could overpower his hold on us and we could escape!"
          She suddenly jumped up and paced aroun the cage excitedly. It was the first time that Dan had ever seen her like this, and because of this he, too, became overjoyed. He got up and danced with her around their cage until finally he collapsed on top of her, the heat between them rising as he gave her a quick kiss before saying, "So, what do we have to do to make this happen?"
          "Well, first we need someone who can contact your family from the outside. Not for very long, byt enough to get our message across.", she told him, smiling from under him.
          "I think I know who could do that for us." He kissed her again and then stood up, walking to the edge of their cage and calling out, "Hey, Crystal. I think we found a way out of here."
          Everyone's ears perked up and they were all focused on him, and it took some time before Crystal finally answered back, saying, "Well, how do you think we can escape?"
          "I need Luna to contact Emmi from outside of this guy's head.", he calmly told her. "If they can communicate, and Emmi is close enough to read his mind, together they can use their psychic energy given to them from Lugia to help break the hold that Ryu has on our spirits."
          Crystal was hesitant right away, but she slowly nodded in the darkness and told Luna about Dan's plan. Luna almost immediately agreed with it, but she told them that she wouldn't be able to contact anyone yet, because being inside of Ryu's head severely limited the range of her power to contact people.
          "Once someone is close enough to Ryu, I can contact them immediately and have them tell Emmi about our plan.", Luna confirmed. "Who knows. It might even be her that I talk to riht away."
          "Thank you so much, Luna.", Dan smiled and hugged Naomi. "We could finally get out of here."
          "I would like that..", she whispered as she kissed him and led him off into the deepest shadows of their cage, eager to spend the rest of the night with him in his arms until Luna could get ahold of someone and pass their message along..
